What Does the iPad 2 Offer?

The Apple iPad 2 features a 9.7-inch capacitive IPS-LCD touch-screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, WiFi n (and 3G depending on the device) for Internet access, A-GPS for location based services, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR as well as a three-axis gyroscope, a digital compass and an accelerometer which sense which direction the iPad 2 is heading and how it is moving. That way, games, maps and other apps react to every twist, turn and tilt. Just like the first iPad, the iPad 2 comes with 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB memory. The weight varies from 601 grams to 613 grams, depending on the version and it is just 8.8 millimeters slim.

However, the iPad 2 is not only lighter and slimmer than the iPad 1, but also more powerful. It is powered by a 1-GHz dual core Apple A5 SOC processor, has 512 MB RAM and - supposedly - is five times faster than the first iPad. Apple also says that there will be a graphics improvement of nine times compared to the iPad 1.

The new iPad 2 also features two cameras, one on the front with VGA resolution for making video voice over IP calls via Facetime and one at the back with a resolution of 5 megapixels and with auto-focus for making snapshots or shooting HD quality videos (720p with 30 frames per second) on the way. There is an HDMI port for connecting the iPad 2 with a TV set and watching the same picture or movie on both devices. And battery life of the iPad 2 has been extended to up to ten hours.

Purchase Prices for iPad 1 Have Dropped

With the introduction of the new tablet, Apple has cut purchase prices for the iPad 1 in Germany. Right now, the first iPad is available for prices between € 379.00 (iPad 1 WiFi 16 GB) and € 699.00 (iPad WiFi + 3G 64 GB) at the Apple web store. If the first iPad is still good enough for you xou might want to buy the tablet within the next three weeks because it could turn out that the old iPads will soon be not available anymore.
